Open Letter to the Type 1 Diabetes Community for Diabetes Awareness Month
November 11, 2021

November is Diabetes Awareness Month. It’s a time when type 1 diabetes (T1D) takes center stage, and we have the chance to celebrate everything from advanced scientific understanding to innovations in treatment approaches to ideas that have yet to be imagined. It’s also a time when we as a community need to shout from the rooftops that yes, while the discovery of insulin 100 years ago thankfully transformed T1D from a death sentence to a chronic disease, there is still more to do.

At Provention Bio, we aim to change the world by unleashing the full potential of lives otherwise burdened or cut short by autoimmune diseases like T1D. It’s a bold vision, and it requires looking at T1D through a different lens. One that seeks to fundamentally alter the autoimmune disease process, laser-focused on early intervention. And one that aspires to change the standard of care across all stages of the disease.

We recognize that we operate in a broad ecosystem and catalyzing this level of change involves more than just our company. Combining the expertise, capabilities, and resources of community members and partners can bring life-changing medicines to market more effectively, and that inspires us. We are in this together.

Our hope is the T1D community will someday soon enjoy a world where the risk of developing this debilitating and life-threatening disease is appreciably reduced, possibly even negligible, and those who already have it no longer require insulin therapy. In the meantime, we will continue to collaborate, push boundaries, and pursue our vision with deeply personal momentum and unwavering dedication. After all, if diabetes never takes a break, we can’t rest either.

With gratitude for your contributions and optimism for meaningful change,

Provention Bio
